Keystone National High School
Keystone National High School, a subsidiary of K12, Inc, was founded in 1974 as the Learning and Evaluation Center, a pioneering organisation that provided a credit make-up home education programme for students who had failed a high school course of study.
By 1994, the founders had expanded the programme, fulfilling the requests of educators and parents who wanted a complete, flexible, full-credit high school curriculum to meet the needs of home education students. That year, Keystone National High School became the official school/programme name and received its license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Keystone introduced its first online courses in 1999, and by 2004 had introduced a second generation of online courses, representing a significant upgrade to its online courses. In response to the need for a programme for younger children with the same benefits as Keystone National High School, Keystone National Middle School was added in the spring of 2008.
Throughout its over 35-year history, Keystone has relied on subject matter specialists, certified classroom teachers, experienced guidance counsellors, professional distance education course writers, caring parents and—most importantly—its 200,000+ students, to help shape Keystone into the award-winning school it is today.
